The Starborn Pro Plug System for Trex Decking delivers a secure, face-fastened connection while keeping every screw completely out of sight. Plugs are precision-cut from actual Trex decking material, so the color and grain match perfectly and disappear into the board once installed — a result that's difficult to achieve with generic composite fillers. The system installs in three simple steps: pre-drill a 3/16" pilot hole through the decking, drive the screw with the included PVC/Composite Tool at high speed on a standard drill, then tap the plug into place with a smooth-faced hammer until flush with the surface.
The tool's Auto-Stop technology sets every screw to the correct depth without overdriving or stripping the recess, while a free-spinning stop collar protects the board surface from marring during installation. Screws feature a Type 17 auger tip for fast insertion and reduced splitting risk, along with an extra-deep star drive recess that minimizes cam-out; all fasteners are ACQ-approved. Kits are available in 100 linear foot, 100 square foot, and 300 square foot coverage sizes, with epoxy-coated carbon steel or 305 stainless steel screw options, and color-matched to Trex's Transcend, Select, and Transcend Lineage lines (Trex Enhance uses a dedicated version of this system with a scalloped profile template). Note: standard drills are recommended — impact drivers may not set screws to the correct depth.
