Picking out your decking is one of the first steps towards building your dream deck. Your decking material defines the look of your deck and shapes every other choice you'll make. The right one depends on your climate, how you'll use the space, and the look you want. Below is a quick guide to each material we carry, what it costs, and the kind of project it's right for.
Most popular. Looks like wood, no maintenance.
The choice for water and pool decks.

Composite is the most popular choice we sell. It looks like real wood but never splinters, never needs staining, and only needs the occasional rinse to look new. The result: a beautiful deck that lasts 25 to 30 years and gets you back to your weekends.
Best for: Most homeowners who want a beautiful deck that lasts decades without endless maintenance.
Brands we carry: Trex, TimberTech, Deckorators, Fiberon
PVC is the choice for water. Pool decks, lakefronts, beach houses, anywhere that gets splashed, sprayed, or rained on. Because it's 100% plastic with no wood inside, it can't absorb water, so it can't warp or rot, and it lasts longer than composite with even less maintenance.
Best for: Pool decks, waterfront homes, and anyone who wants the lowest possible maintenance over the longest possible time. Typically WUI compliant and fire resistant.
Brands we carry: TimberTech AZEK Advanced PVC, Wolf, Eva-Last, Fiberon
HDPE is one of the toughest decking materials on the market, reinforced with fiberglass for exceptional strength and long-term structural stability. Often made from recycled plastic, it stands up to salt air, intense sun, and the freeze-thaw cycles of winter. Whether used at a beach house, mountain cabin, or any location with extreme weather, it can deliver performance that lasts 50 years or more.
Best for: Coastal homes, harsh climates, and homeowners who want a deck that outlasts everything.
Brands we carry: Owens Corning, Eva-Last
Mineral-based is composite, upgraded. Replacing some of the wood fibers with mineral content makes the boards more stable in temperature swings, lighter to install, and more premium underfoot. Deckorators pioneered the category, and it's quickly becoming the favorite for higher-end builds.
Best for: Homeowners who want premium composite with extra stability and a more refined feel.
Brands we carry: Deckorators
Grated panel is the specialty option. Instead of solid boards, it features an open-grid design that allows water and light to pass straight through, making it ideal for upper-level decks, docks, and applications where drainage below matters. It’s not the right fit for every project, but when it is, few products perform like it.
Best for: Salt water docks, marinas, and anywhere uplift and light exposure are a factor.
Brands we carry: Thru-Flow
