Frequently Asked Questions

Well, that depends on your budget, where you live, what you want your project to look like, and your personal style. Some popular decking materials are:

  • Wood: Wood is a traditional decking material with a natural, classic look. Standard wood options include pressure-treated lumber, cedar, and redwood. Wood is relatively affordable and easy to work with. However, it requires regular maintenance, such as staining and sealing, to protect it from moisture, rot, and pests.
  • Composite: Composite decking is a blend of wood fibers and recycled plastic and is a durable, low-maintenance alternative to wood. Composite decking is resistant to rot, warping, and splintering. It doesn't require staining or sealing but should still be cleaned periodically. It also comes in a variety of colors and styles.
  • PVC: PVC (polyvinyl chloride) decking mimics the look of natural wood and is made of synthetic materials, offering excellent resistance to moisture, stains, and insects. It doesn't require painting or sealing and is exceptionally resistant to the elements.
  • Aluminum: Aluminum decking is lightweight, durable, and resistant to moisture, insects, and rot. It is often used in coastal areas due to its resistance to saltwater corrosion. In addition, aluminum decking offers a modern, sleek appearance and requires minimal maintenance.
  • Tropical hardwood: Tropical hardwood decking, such as ipe or mahogany, is known for its exceptional durability and natural beauty. It resists insects, rot, and decay. Tropical hardwoods are dense and require special tools for installation. They are typically more expensive than other materials and require some regular maintenance to maintain their appearance.

We can help you explore the options that would work best for your decking project – please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Absolutely! Call us anytime, drop us a note on our chat or text button to discuss. We have plenty of experience with tailoring a customized project.

The affordability of decking materials varies depending on your project scope, location, materials availability, and the specific features and brands you choose. It's always a good idea to compare prices, consider long-term costs, and consult with us for accurate pricing information. The Deck Store only stocks top-quality brands that you can trust to withstand the test of time and still look beautiful, so no matter what you invest, it should last for many years of enjoyment.

Pressure-treated lumber is often considered the most budget-friendly decking material. Pressure-treated lumber is made from softwood, typically Southern Yellow Pine, that has been chemically treated to resist rot, insects, and decay. It is widely available and relatively inexpensive compared to other decking materials.

Pressure-treated lumber is also easy to work with and can be stained or painted to enhance its appearance. However, it does require regular maintenance, such as staining and sealing, to protect it from moisture and UV damage.

Another cost-effective option to consider is composite decking. While the initial investment may be higher than pressure-treated lumber, composite decking requires minimal maintenance and lasts longer. It doesn't need staining, sealing, or painting, which reduces the ongoing costs. Additionally, composite decking is resistant to rot, insects, and warping, making it a durable choice over time.

We’ll assist you in weighing the options if you’re unsure what material will work best.

We are a top deck supply store bringing you premium brands like AZEK, Trex, TimberTech,  and Wolf Decking.

We also source natural wood decking products, including pressure-treated lumber, redwood and cedar, and tropical hardwoods for marine decking. Most of our hardwoods are imported from Brazil with a lifespan of 30 years or more when cared for properly. We are dedicated to only carrying high grades of lumber, meaning fewer knots, consistent boards, and longer lifespan.

We also carry wood treatments and protection supplies.

Rest assured, we want you to enjoy your deck for years to come!
